Single man lifts are another member of the aerial work platforms (AWP). Single man lifts are small, portable and relatively inexpensive. Single man lifts often come equipped with either electrical outlets or compressed air connectors for the worker to use power tools. Single man lifts are typically compact versions of a scissor boom lift that are rated for a single user and their equipment.

Single man lifts are tend to be hydraulically powered and frequently are self-propelled. Single man lifts allow an individual to stand on a small platform or in a small basket and have a limited range of motion. The single man lift much like the larger scissor lift can only raise or lower a person, however, the self propelled version may be moved into position by the user even when the single man lift is elevated. Where as, the single man lift is less flexible than an articulated boom lift it is easier to operate and perfect for larger retail and warehouse settings.

Single man lifts are used in a wide variety of retail and and warehouse settings where the alternative is to drag and place ladders into position. Single man lifts are safer and faster that using ladders and require fewer people to safely operate.
